A lady from Chenango County is accused of stealing from her workplace for at least five years and more than $155,000.
Sheriff Ernest Cutting reported that on Tuesday, officers from the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office detained a citizen of the Town of New Berlin in relation to an embezzlement case at a business in the Town of Columbus.
After conducting an investigation after the theft from the Golden Artist Colors, deputies detained Amy L. Grant of New Berlin.
The company received the 1991 Business Arts Award from the Council of the Arts and Chenango County Chamber of Commerce, among other distinctions. Mark Golden was selected the 1996 Small Business Person of the Year by the United States Small Business Administration.

A Chenango County Sheriff’s Office inquiry led to the December 18 arrest of Amy L. Grant, 43, of New Berlin.
Grant reportedly stole money from the Columbus, Ohio, company where she worked, according to investigators. At first, the sheriff’s office denied to identify the Company. But Golden Artist Colors was later identified as the name of the company.
Golden Artist Colors, usually referred to as Golden, is a U.S. producer of paints used for fine art, crafts, and home furnishings. The business, which is based in New Berlin, New York, produces a line of acrylic paints that features some reproductions of old-fashioned pigments.

Grant was charged with offenses including first-degree fraud, second-degree grand larceny, and first-degree record-keeping fraud. She was scheduled to appear in court at a later time.
