I’ve been moved by music and film’s ability to unite people and bring out the best in one another over the years as I’ve witnessed so many of my heroes being serenaded by peers and other artists. Together with my fellow award recipients, colleagues, and family, I’m eager to celebrate. I appreciate you enlarging the circumference to include everybody.

Who is Amy Grant, exactly? Known as “The Queen of Christian Mainstream,” American vocalist Amy Grant began her career in current Christian music before switching to pop music in the 1980s and 1990s. Grant has won numerous awards throughout her tenure, including six Grammys.

With songs like Father’s Eyes, El Shaddai, and Angels, Grant gained popularity in Christian music during the 1980s after making her debut as a young child. Her transition to pop music produced successful records like Lead Me On and Unguarded.

Age to Age won her first Grammy in 1982, followed by Ageless Medley in 1983 and Angels and Unguarded in 1984, all in the category of Best Spiritual Performance.

In 1988, Lead Me On won her sixth Grammy, and in 2005, Rock of Ages…Hymns of Faith did the same. 22 Dove Awards from the Christian Music Association have also been given to her. Age to Age by Grant was the first platinum-certified Christian recording. In 2006, Amy Grant received recognition with a plaque on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Next Time I Fall, a duet by Grant and Peter Cetera, peaked at number one on the Billboard Top 100 chart in 1986. Her best-selling record, Heart in Motion, came out in 1991. The album generated her second No. 1 pop song, Baby Baby, as well as other popular songs like That’s What Love Is For, Every Heartbeat, and Good for Me, and it sold five million copies in the US.

Along with many other works, Grant is the author of Mosaic: Pieces of My Life So Far. Additionally, she contributed to the writing of a novel based on the beloved Christmas song “Breath of Heaven (Mary’s Song).”
