Amy Schumer Defended Her Decision To Fire Badgley’s Wife

Amy Schumer

On Penn Badgley’s podcast, Podcrushed, Amy Schumer recently explained why she fired Domino Kirke, her doula and Badgley’s wife. Doula Domino Kirke assisted in the birth of Amy Schumer’s son Gene in 2019.

She claimed that after learning she had hyperemesis gravidarum and needed a C-section, she was left feeling so exposed that she didn’t want Kirke’s “goddess aura” in her house anymore. She remarked:

“The goddess Domino is. Like a siren, she hovers over the house. She is so alluring that you will simply melt in her presence. And she truly belonged in the family. I couldn’t have this Botticelli beauty floating over my house while I was like, bleeding out, I just felt so exposed.”

The actress’ recovery after a C-section had an impact, but it was not considered a valid justification. She asserted that she lacked the fortitude to permit Kirke entry into the house and suggested that she speak with Kirke about whatever had happened in the past. She stated:

We were going to collaborate for a very long time after I had Gene, but I suddenly decided I didn’t need a post-partum doula any longer.

Amy Schumer talks about her son’s health issues

In March 2022, Amy Schumer provided an update regarding her son’s health issues on the podcast Dear Chelsea. She said her child might be autistic. Chris, the wife of comedian Amy Schumer, is reportedly struggling with the same problem. She stated during a conversation with broadcaster Chelsea Handler,

He’s just two and a half years old, and I think kids aren’t diagnosed until they’re at most six. Certain symptoms are observable, but a diagnosis isn’t made until much later, and I honestly don’t care which way it goes. All you want is for your kids to be happy and healthy.

Amy made Chris’ autism spectrum diagnosis known in her 2019 Growing Netflix original. She described her husband as the most lovely person she had ever met, calling him kind, funny, interesting, and clever.

Amy Schumer tries IVF to conceive a second child

In order to conceive another child, Schumer had already tried IVF. On the Dear Chelsea show on iHeartRadio, she discussed the subject. The IVF procedure, according to the 41-year-old, is challenging yet frequently employed. When she first tried it, she believed she was going to die. She went on to say:

When I got about 31 eggs, I declared, “I’m fertile, Myrtle.” I became quite agitated. After fertilization, there was a decline; we only got one normal embryo and tried, but it didn’t work. My uterus is no longer present.

The Saturday Night Live host said she and Chris will have one child and love their small family. She mentioned the birth of her son Gene as follows:

“I’m happy, yet I’m also depressed. It’s like, “You already have one b**ch, shut up,” so you don’t really feel sorry for it. But, you know, that really is a problem for people.”

Amy Schumer is best known for her appearances on the Comedy Central sketch comedy series Inside Amy Schumer and the NBC reality series Last Comic Standing.
