Around seven in the morning, Andrew Findlay and Tim Klingender left Sydney Heads with the intention of fishing from Bondi to Watsons Bay. This was the start of the disastrous fishing expedition.
Unfortunately, the boat overturned in waves as high as five meters, crashing onto the rocks of the Watsons Bay cliff wall.
Superintendent Joe McNulty of the Marine Area Command stated that the boat, an inflatable rib measuring 7.8 meters and believed to weigh four tons, was not determined to be at fault.
He did stress, though, that the two were driving dangerously near the cliff wall, which might have contributed to the collision.
