Andrew D. Lester, an 84-year-old White man, was charged with two felonies on Monday evening, according to Clay County Prosecutor Zachary Thompson, who convened a press conference to make the announcement.
Both charges are for armed criminal conduct, which carries a maximum life term, and first-degree assault.

Ralph Yarl, a 16-year-old Black youth, was unintentionally shot by a homeowner on Thursday night in Kansas City, Missouri after he went to the incorrect location to pick up his siblings.
The Clay County Prosecutor’s Office has been given the case, and they will determine whether or not to press charges against the suspect.
Officers reportedly arrived at the site on Thursday night after receiving a 911 call from someone who thought the shooter of Yarl was at a nearby residence.
The 16-year-old youngster was discovered outside a neighboring residence. Lester was inside the front storm door when police arrived at the home and saw the smashed glass.
Lester gave his signed permission for a search of his home. An officer saw cameras on the south and east sides of the property, as well as blood on the front porch and driveway.
After hearing an unknown car enter into Lester’s driveway, a witness claimed to have heard two to three gunshots. Additionally, they overheard Yarl yelling that he had been shot.
Ralph is in stable condition and has been discharged from the hospital after receiving gunshot wounds to the head and arm. His family is seeking justice in the case and has hired lawyers Lee Merritt and Ben Crump to defend them.
At Lester’s house, a CSI team discovered a. 32-caliber revolver with live rounds in the chamber and two expended shot casings still in the cylinder.
Lester said in the probable cause statement that he grabbed his revolver, opened the door, and fired twice in quick succession while thinking someone was attempting to break into his home.
