On March 6, 1979, Bruce David Sandlin, better known by his stage as X1, was born. The American rapper was an unofficial member of the famed rap group Onyx and a member of the New York rap group Gang Green.
Self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the head were discovered at the rapper’s Las Vegas house. His friends, on the other side, believe he was murdered and that his suicide amid the Fourth of July fireworks was faked. The precise cause of death or murder is unknown.
Regarding Bruce Sandin
Bruce was born in Brooklyn and moved to Queens a year later with his parents. Hip-hop entered his life when he began to display his artistic ability by performing freestyle in public and at school.
Soon after, he met other teens in his neighborhood and formed a group with Dez (later “Still Livin”), Chop, Cyph Certified, and Whose, the younger brother of rapper Fredro Starr.
Afterward, he took the stage moniker X1 and began performing rap in fast-food outlets such as KFC and others.
The members were recognized by the popular hip-hop group Onyx, who immediately pulled them into the studio and named the band Gang Green in reference to Fredro Starr’s statements.
They were signed to Armee Records by Onyx, which was distributed by Capitol Records and Mercury Records. I’ll Murder You, produced by Onyx, was the debut single for Bruce and his bandmates.
They also produced a music video for the song, which was frequently broadcast on television networks. Shortly thereafter, other concerts and interviews followed.
Over time, the band accumulated further information and film while also attending a number of Onyx’s sessions, such as the 1994 recording of Evil Streets Remix with Method Man.
Rise To Fame
Bruce’s neighborhood fame grew exponentially, and Onyx members adopted him. The rapper found his place in the new group and participated in the recording of three albums by the hip-hop trio, including Shut ‘Em Down, Bacdafucup: Part II, and Triggernometry, as well as the solo albums of Fredro Starr and Sticky Fingaz.
After finishing the third album by Onyx, Bruce focused on his solo career. He maintained strong relations with the group and aided them with the recording of individual projects. In 2000, he signed with Mike Tyson Records.
However, the label did not perform as well as he had intended, so he signed with California recording company Ball’s Records, which also went out of business before he could release an album.
On September 19, 2006, he released his sole solo album, Young, Rich, and Gangsta, after signing with the Las Vegas-based business Dynasty Records.
