Alvina Stewart Anderson initially filed for divorce in 2015, citing irreconcilable differences. But in 2017, surprisingly, she filed to dismiss the divorce petition as she was not about to divorce at that time and wanted to give it a second chance. This period of reconciliation gave hope to their fans, but it was short-lived.
On March 25, 2022, Alvina filed for divorce for the second time, leaving the date of their separation as “TBD.” In her filing, she requested spousal support and asked Anthony to cover her attorney’s fees. Additionally, she wanted to categorize property acquired during their marriage as “community” property, with equal division in mind.

In response to Alvina’s divorce request, Anthony listed their date of separation as February 25, 2022, and cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. The documents revealed that he wanted spousal support to be reserved for “future determination,” leaving room for negotiation. However, he insisted that both parties should cover their respective attorney’s fees.
Ultimately, the former Law & Order star agreed to pay spousal support to Alvina as part of the divorce settlement. The couple also reached a mutual decision to sell their Encino, California, property and divide the profits evenly. The court further ordered Anthony to co-sign a 12-month lease with his estranged wife to help her secure alternate housing.
