Antoine Dubuc Every Namibian has been affected by accident news. Augustin Wesley Katimba, 30, and Michael Chintakis, 31, are named as the victims in court documents.

Six charges, including driving while drunk, fleeing the scene of an accident, and reckless driving resulting in death, are being brought against 23-year-old Antoine Dubuc.

According to Montreal police, the suspect hit the two individuals at a high speed before fleeing the area, first in his automobile and then on foot.

Dubuc’s scheduled court appearance for this Wednesday was rescheduled. He’s going to be here on Monday.

The ambassador of Namibia to the US identified Katimba as a citizen of Namibian heritage and said in a Facebook post that he was struck on Monday shortly after one in the morning while heading home from church in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville neighborhood of Montreal.

Ambassador Margaret Mensah-Williams, who is also authorized to represent the country in Canada, said that Katimba just celebrated his birthday on December 31.

When he was slain, he was not far from his house. After his death, friends and relatives in Namibia expressed their grief.

Paying Homages To The departed

Chintakis’s Montreal friends expressed sorrow at his sudden death. He had just sent a message to his buddy Spiros Ilias asking for the code to get into his building, and he was on his way to a party at his place.

Ilias said that he attempted to call Chintakis twenty minutes later but got no response.

Ilias went outside after getting a call from a friend who had just left and saw that Chintakis’s jacket was concealed behind an orange police sheet. They found two dead on the roadway.

“It’s a complete tragedy,” Ilias said in a Wednesday interview. He described his pal as a fervent, inspiring light that made any area seem brighter.

The two had known one other since third grade. Chintakis would have been thirty-two on January 14.

Another close buddy, Casey Fragoulis, said that Chintakis had a big heart.

Fragoulis said that he recognized the good in everyone and that he loved them all in spite of their defects.

He doesn’t believe he has ever heard him speak poorly of anybody; you always felt comfortable with him.

“I know how I feel like I have a piece of him, and that’s what gives me comfort,” Fragoulis added, fighting back tears. “He loved that dog so much, and I have a piece of him.”

Ilias and his friends have created a GoFundMe to help with the cost of his burial and to give a place to remember him.
