How did Antonio Davis start his Professional Career?

His career spanned from 1990 to 2006. However, before committing to the NBA, Antonio decided to play in Europe, so he played for Panathinaikos in the Greek League from 1990 to 1992 and Philips Milano in the Italian League from 1992 to 1993, where he won the Kora Cup in 1993.

He returned to the United States in 1993 to play for the Indiana Pacers, where he played a crucial role in helping the team reach the Eastern Conference Finals, but they were defeated in six games by the New York Knicks.

The following season, Indiana advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals after defeating the Atlanta Hawks (3-0) and the New York Knicks (4-3) but was defeated in seven games by the Orlando Magic.

Davis and the Pacers made the playoffs in 1995-96, but the Atlanta Hawks defeated them in five games in the first round. The Pacers returned to the playoffs in 1997-98 after defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers and the New York Knicks but were defeated in the conference finals, this time by the Chicago Bulls, in seven games.

Davis was moved to the Toronto Raptors in August 1999, where he averaged 11.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in 79 games. He was a key player in Toronto’s first-ever playoff run, but the Knicks swept them in the first round.

Antonio had his greatest season in 2000-01, averaging 13.7 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks, earning him a spot in the 2001 All-Star game, but the Raptors were defeated in the second round of the playoffs by the Philadelphia 76ers.

The following season, Davis was the team captain, recording 14.5 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks, but he was traded to the Chicago Bulls in 2004, where he didn’t play a significant part and was subsequently traded to the New York Knicks.

However, his numbers suffered significantly, and he was merely a reserve player there, thus Davis returned to the Raptors in February 2006, but was released the following month after suffering a season-ending injury.

Antonio Davis won a silver medal with the US national team in the 1989 Tournament of the Americas and also competed in the 2002 FIBA World Championship.
