The second installment of Channel 4’s The Disappearance of April Jones revealed that the hunt for April unintentionally evolved into a murder inquiry. On October 2, 2012, Bridger was apprehended a day or so after April disappeared.
Police detectives who were investigating the matter at the time claim to have spoken with Bridger following his detention. When the police met with him, he continually gave them falsehoods about his family, his background, and April, according to the detectives.
Bridger, a resident of Surrey, said that his mother was a seamstress and his father was a policeman. During his first Police interview in 2012, Bridger was heard stating, “My Father and I often didn’t see eye to eye – he was severe,” on tape.

The tapes show that he even lied to the police while chatting with them about his family. One Police investigator who featured in the film described Bridger as “cunning” as he explained how Bridger had claimed them his mother had committed suicide and his father had passed away from a heart attack.
