Queen Letizia of Spain was joined by her mother-in-law, Queen Sofia, and two of her daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia.
Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano rules Spain as the queen consort of King Felipe VI. She was reared in a middle-class family and worked as a journalist for ABC and EFE before joining CNN+ and Televisión Espaola.
Felipe, the prince of Asturias and presumptive heir to the Spanish throne at the moment, was her husband in 2004. As Princess of Asturias, Letizia represented her father-in-law, King Juan Carlos, both within and beyond Spain.

The Prince of Asturias presented her with a 16-baguette diamond engagement ring accented with white gold. She marked the occasion by presenting him with a classic book and cufflinks made of white gold and sapphires.
The ceremony took place in the Santa Mara la Real de la Almudena Cathedral in Madrid on May 22, 2004. The first royal wedding was held in this cathedral.
Since the prince’s parents were married in Athens and his sisters, Infanta Elena, and Infanta Cristina, were married in Seville and Barcelona, respectively, it had been nearly a century since the capital had hosted a regal wedding.
Family of Princess Leonor and Princess Sofia
The name Sofa was inspired by the matriarch of her father, Queen Sofa of Spain. She was baptized in the gardens of the Palacio de la Zarzuela on July 15 by the Madrid archbishop Antonio Mara Rouco Varela.
Her godparents are Paloma Rocasolano and the Prince of Vidin, Konstantin. At her baptism, she received the same name as her sister, as well as the additional name de Todos los Santos, as is the custom in Bourbon.
The Ruber International Hospital was left by Leonor and her parents on November 7, 2005. She was consecrated in the Zarzuela Palace on January 14, 2006, by Madrid’s archbishop, Cardinal Antonio Rouco Varela.
Like her father, Leonor was baptized with Jordan River water in a Romanesque baptismal font. This font has been used since the 17th century to baptize Spanish nobles.
The paternal ancestors who served as her godparents were King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia. It was bestowed upon her the appellation Leonor de Todos Los Santos.
