Yasiel Puig Faces Sexual Assault Charges
In January 2017, the former Major League Baseball player was accused of sexually abusing two women, with whom he resolved the matter in secret later that year. The first victim, a native of Los Angeles, alleged that she met Puig at a nightclub after following him on Instagram.
It is alleged that he attempted to rape her. She reported that her cries halted him, but he then tried to coerce her into oral sex, which she also refused.
She claimed that Puig then ejaculated and fled the scene after she continued to resist. A few days after the initial incident, a second woman in Southern California went to a police station to report a sexual assault.
She said that she met Puig two days prior, during the Los Angeles Dodgers FanFest, and that during consenting sexual activity, he became extremely enthusiastic, struck, choked, and bit her, nearly knocking her unconscious.
In an Instagram post on October 30, 2021, Puig outlined the complaint. He announced that the matter brought against him had been handled. He stated that he never inappropriately touched the women.
