Arthur Ashe is easily recognized as the first male African American tennis player to win both the US Open and the Wimbledon singles title. Before he was ranked, there was no other African American man in the world’s top five. He was also the first individual inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame.
He also continued to be an activist. He raised awareness about the disease after learning that he had received AIDS through a blood transfusion. However, time passed, and he died on February 6, 1993. Arthur Ashe, a legend, died on that date.
