Arthur Levinson worked at the University of California’s ‘Microbiology Department’ after receiving his Ph.D. He worked as a graduate scholar alongside Nobel laureates Michael Bishop and Harold Varmus.

His cancer study initially culminated in the creation of a monoclonal antibody known as ‘trastuzumab,’ one of the first targeted medicines for cancer therapy. Meanwhile, he created the anti-monoclonal antibody rituximab, which is used to treat blood tumors, as well as a type of epidermal growth factor receptor.
