Joy Taylor, who had been co-hosting The Herd with Colin Cowherd for three years, made her decision to leave the program public on September 6, 2022.
“My time with @theherd has come to an end,” she tweeted alongside a photo of herself and Cowherd from her final episode, along with an emotional emoji. She then expressed her appreciation for Cowherd, saying that he had given her the chance to develop and learn from “the greatest in business.”
The television personality also thanked her fans for supporting their work over the years in the post. She hoped they would participate in her new show, Speak, on FOX Sports, to support her new enterprise.
Taylor had guest-starred on The Herd on September 6 before sending out the tweet. The sports team reminisced over their three years as co-hosts while discussing her exit.
Cowherd bemoaned her departure, saying, “When you’re extremely talented, every single talented woman in my life has always left me so this is my reality.” He continued, “So Joy told me, she was going to get this show and I pouted for a day.” He then described his initial response to her choice to leave.
He continued, perhaps endorsing her new stance, “And then the next day I walked in and I said, “You know I love you, you’re the greatest, you’ve made this [best] for me.”
Colin Cowherd and Joy Taylor’s friendship
In 2016, Taylor became a guest host on The Herd. When Kristine Leahy was absent, she filled in for her. Leahy left the program in 2019, and Taylor filled the void full-time.
She called during the aforementioned interview during her first week of employment. She claims that Cowherd inspired her to express her ideas and communicate more. His advice encouraged her to be authentic, eventually enhancing their TV appearance.
The first day I went on the show, you pushed me to say more; you’re like when you go just go, offer your opinion which is, you know, what I’ve, you know, get to this business to do is to give my opinion. She even remembers Cowherd recognizing her and allowing her space to work in her style.
Throughout the entire interview, their friendship was evident. Even Cowherd complimented her on her new role, referred to her as the nation’s top female sports opinionated, and thanked her for improving his life.
Fans have undoubtedly backed Taylor and Cowherd’s friendship. Following his thank you in her exit statement, Taylor’s admirers gushed about their connection and flooded the comments with good wishes for her.
Best of luck to Joy in her new post at FS1, and you already know that @ColinCowherd is going to keep trucking, a fan wrote. “Salty @JoyTaylorTalks is departing the @TheHerd. She and Colin had a fantastic dynamic that I’ll miss.”
