In India’s capital Delhi, Bollywood actor and director Satish Kaushik has passed away at the age of 66. According to his nephew Nishaan Kaushik, the actor suffered a heart attack on Thursday morning.
He was in a car at the time of the accident and was brought to the hospital, where physicians pronounced him dead upon arrival.
In the Hindi cinema industry, Kaushik wore various hats as an actor, producer, comedian, and scriptwriter.
In the 1987 blockbuster Mr. India, he portrayed Calendar, a chef, in his breakthrough role. This role highlighted the comic timing for which he would become famous.
In numerous other films, including Ram Lakhan, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, and Deewane Mastano, he portrayed noteworthy characters.
He directed the films Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja, Prem, Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain, and Tere Naam.
Kaushik, who was born on 13 April 1956, graduated from Kirori Mal College at Delhi University before attending the National School of Theatre.
He was active on Twitter, where he frequently shared career-related recollections. In 2020, he tweeted a snapshot of his 1979 arrival in Bombay to pursue a career as an actor, which was received with an outpouring of compassion.
Many Bollywood celebrities and political figures paid respect to the actor.
Anupam Kher, who revealed the news on Twitter, stated that life without Kaushik, with whom he had been friends for 45 years, would never be the same.
Subhash Ghai, the film’s director, described him as “a man who constantly laughed, even in the direst of circumstances, and stood by anyone in need.”
The actor will be remembered for his “contribution to Indian cinema, artistic achievements, and performances,” according to Home Minister Amit Shah.
Kaushik will make his final appearance on the big screen in the upcoming period drama Emergency.
