During the 21st season of ‘American Idol, Lionel Richie went on ‘The View’ on March 28 and discussed his sexual stamina in front of ‘All Night Long’s 40th anniversary.
73-year-old American Idol judge Lionel Richie still has it… sort of. During an appearance on The View with his fellow Idol judges, the 73-year-old artist recounted the history of his 1978 smash “All Night Long.”
“Let me begin by saying the most important thing I have to say to you. When I composed “All Night Long,” it was literally all night,” he said Sara Haines, age 45. “My ‘all night long’ has been reduced to a fiery fifteen minutes.”
Once Lionel joked about his sexual endurance, the audience and his fellow judges erupted in laughter. He continued playfully,
“But don’t worry, we’ll talk about that later!” The 38-year-old singer Katy Perry even shook his hand and praised him for his endurance.
She screamed,
“Fifteen minutes, that’s a long time, buddy!” Once country musician Luke Bryan, 46, complimented Lionel, the father of three responded, “Damn right, and don’t you forget that, okay?”
Then, the “Firework” hitmaker said that his “15 minutes” are OK so long as he is not required to perform “four times a night, seven days a week.”
Lionel finally had the opportunity to describe his creative process in writing the successful song, and he stated that it was difficult to accomplish.
The Grammy winner stated,
“I had everything but the hook.” “I said, ‘Hey, I have to return to the studio. “I have to go back, guy, because I have to work all night, all night.” Eventually, this simple statement lead him to create the catchy hook.
After the song was released, a third party asked the buddy if he profited from Lionel’s song. He also revealed that he was able to complete the song at his friend’s home during Thanksgiving.
“He answered, ‘Nah, man. I did not compose this song. He responded, ‘Dude, you’ve been ripped off,'” the recording artist continued. Joy Behar, 80, then advised that Lionel send his old friend some money, to which Lionel said, “Well, Lloyd, I’ll write you a check.”
Tuesday’s honest talk with Lionel comes two days after the final auditions for Season 21 of American Idol.
Kaeyra, 21 years old, Elise Kristine, Sarah Mac, Jayna Elise, Nate Peck, Mikenley Brown, and many others were among the emerging talents that got golden tickets during the March 26 program.
The following episodes will run on April 2 and 3, according to the show’s official Instagram account. Since Season 16, Lionel has been a judge in the popular singing competition and remains a fan favorite.
