August Alsina revealed in 2017 that he has a serious autoimmune condition that targets his liver. The hereditary disorder has caused a number of occurrences, including a stage collapse in 2014.
In a contentious Red Table Talk session from 2017, he opened up about his illness with Jada Pinkett Smith, with whom he had become “entangled.”
He clarified that autoimmune disorders run in his family. The Song Cry singer was heard saying in the video: “After we sat down and discussed, my dad’s mother and sister confessed that sickness and disease run in my family. My grandfather’s and my father’s deaths were caused by significant illnesses.
On July 8, 2019, he gave fresh health updates. In a video posted to Instagram, the rapper said he was hospitalized because of a loss of movement.
He stated, “We’re conducting a number of tests, and they’re indicating that I have some nerve damage occurring throughout my body.
Alpha-1 antitrypsin (AAT) deficiency, hemochromatosis, and Wilson disease are examples of genetic liver diseases. These are caused by a deficiency in AAT protein, an excess of iron, or an accumulation of copper, respectively.
