On Saturday morning, Ava Wood, 14, was buried at Word of Life Assembly of God Church in Baldwinsville.
Wood was a student-athlete at Baldwinsville’s Durgee Jr. High School in the ninth grade. She had a memorial service on Sunday. Her personal qualities and playing abilities were discussed by her soccer coaches.
Everyone needs someone like Ava, said coach Corey Fonseca, who called her an incredible young person.
According to Fonseca, Ava apparently put in a lot of work and made an effort to get better every day. She was only 14 years old and had difficulty as a player. Ava was just one of those kids, said Fonseca, adding that she had a wonderful presence and an unreplaceable personality.
Fonseca pledges that he and the crew will do everything possible to remember her and emphasize the happy experiences they had with Ava during this painful period.
