Stephen Graham, who is a Bafta nominee, has received recognition in the New Year’s Honours list. The actor from Leicestershire who starred in the BBC TV program Line of Duty has been given the OBE for their contributions to drama.
For his performances in Time, Help, and Boiling Point, he received three Bafta nominations earlier this year.
In order to provide a forum for fresh and underrepresented perspectives, he founded a production company with his wife in 2020.
Trying to “create good stories that will be a broader depiction of the cultural characteristics of our society,” he said, is what Matriarch Productions would do.
For his performance in Channel 4’s The Virtues, he received a Royal Television Society Programme Award later that year for a best male actor.
Award and honored
People from Leicestershire and Rutland have also received honors for a variety of other social services.
Professor Timothy Vorley has been granted OBE for services to enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, while Dr. Mayur Lakhani has been knighted for his contributions to general practice.
Veejaykumar Patel has been appointed an MBE for his contributions to employment and training. Additionally appointed MBE for medical services is Dr. Jyotiben Shah.
Both Brian Jackson and Edwin Williams have received the British Empire Medal (BEM) for their contributions to the communities of Leicestershire and Rutland, respectively.
