Renard was charged with murder after his wife, Patricia, was discovered dead in the main bedroom of their house in Southeast Houston. At 3 a.m., the Sheriff’s deputy personally phoned the police and notified them of the situation.
Not only was his wife found dead from a gunshot wound, but Renard also had a gunshot wound in his leg. Patricia was pronounced dead on the scene once the police arrived, while Renard was transported to the hospital. On July 28, 2019, a public service officer named Ed Gonzalez tweeted about the situation.
He stated,
We’ve received information of a possible family disturbance at 5000 Briscoe. An off-duty officer
Deputy is present. An adult female died at the scene, and the deputy was brought to the hospital with unknown injuries.
Renard was detained and placed under investigation after spending some time in a hospital.

According to Renanrd Spivey, his wife Patricia’s death was an accident. Renard and his wife had gotten into a quarrel over his use of steroids and an alleged extramarital affair. Meanwhile, the two were arguing over a rifle, and Renard accidently shot her during the scuffle. While speaking with officers, he stated,
“We had been arguing and tussling with the gun all day,” he said.
He went on to say,
She’s counting my tablets (low testosterone prescription) and accusing me of sleeping with someone else.”
Despite his assertion that his wife’s death was unintentional, prosecutors felt he was lying. The evidence they discovered after studying Patricia’s body did not appear to be coincidental. According to the medical examiner, she had bruises on her wrist and the bullet had struck her heart.
Renard’s account was also questioned by his brother-in-law, Ezra Washington. Ezra stated that the pair had a heated argument over Spivey’s drug use and adultery, and that he even requested that Renard be separated from his sister.
Patricia’s tragic death devastated her family, particularly her daughter.
Patricia’s daughter, Patrina Marshall, spoke to the media after her mother’s death and stated,
“She was my bolster when things became tough. (She was) my friend when I wanted to vent, my helping hand when I needed it, but most importantly, she is my mother.”
Her brother, like her daughter, regrets not taking his sister’s family issue seriously.
What Was the Court’s Decision in Renard Spivey’s Case? Is he still in prison?
When he was first arrested in 2019, he was not proven guilty, therefore he was granted bail on a $50,000 bond. Patricia’s family, on the other hand, continued to battle in court. Meanwhile, Renard’s brother-in-law stated,
“Right now, we’re on the path to justice – so we’ve got to stay on it and get to our destination, which is, you know, complete justice.”
Investigator police later proved the suspect Spivey guilty as a result of their relentless attempts to obtain justice. According to Vizaca, the former actor was sentenced to 14 years in prison. He will remain in prison until 2033.
