Bella Taylor Smith, the Voice Australia winner, had her parents with her as she went on a blind audition. Her parents also brought her up in Sydney, Australia. Gabu and Sophia, Smith’s younger sisters, are two of the three children of Smith’s parents. Bella hasn’t disclosed much about her parents to her fan base yet, though. Smith said in an interview that her parents and relatives gave her a lot of support while she worked toward becoming a well-known singer.
Bella’s father started using ice when she was a teenager. Thus, in September 2020, her father was arrested and sentenced to prison. Unfortunately, Bella’s father was incarcerated at the time of her show audition. It has been said that her father struggled with addiction. During the knockout stage of the show, she stated:
He was the ideal father. However, I was experiencing a lot of addiction troubles when I was around 15 or 16. I found out he had taken to using ice. That was quite difficult.
Even in these difficult times, Bella and her father remain close. She declares with pride that her dad is “clean” for the first time in a long time. Bella stated in a Daily Telegraph interview:
Everybody has struggles that have a big impact on who they are and how they relate to other people. The last ten years or so have been very difficult.
