Taeyang is the first Korean male musician to be named a global ambassador for Givenchy, one of France’s most recognizable brands known for its high-end fragrances, cosmetics, and clothing.
On January 17, the legendary luxury French fashion house formally announced that the BIGBANG member is the new face of Givenchy. According to the manufacturer:
“Givenchy is delighted to announce Taeyang’s nomination as global ambassador for 2023.”
The brand’s creative director, Matthew Williams, praised the idol, calling him an “inspiring artist”:
“Taeyang is an exciting musician – a music pioneer with an original, boundary-breaking method of expressing himself that is perfectly suited to today’s Givenchy aesthetic.”
In response, the idol expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work with the company and start a new chapter in his life. He went on to say that Givenchy has been an inspiration to him for many years and thus holds a special place in his heart. He also praised Matthew, saying that the creative director has been a leader in both fashion and culture for many years.

After Jimin’s appointment as Dior’s global ambassador collaboration and BTS’ Suga signing a global campaign with Valentino, Taeyang’s nomination as the new face of Givenchy is the third major news from a luxury fashion company this week. The BIGBANG member attended Paris Men’s Fashion Week on January 18, the day after Givenchy’s announcement.
He was dressed in a black sweatshirt, black pants, and a Givenchy jacket with the label’s name embroidered on the back. The BIGBANG member’s appearance at Paris Men’s Fashion Week enraged netizens, with several of them filming footage from the event. Some people also took to Twitter to congratulate the icon on her new role as a Givenchy brand ambassador.
