Bill met Tamara Day (Née Schraeder) in 1998 at Kansas City’s Bartle Hall. They were managing stalls next to each other at the time. Bill and Tamara, on the other hand, would not go on their first date for another 6 months after their first meeting. Fast forward to November 2000, and they married.

Bill and Tamara purchased a home in 2008. However, before the married couple could hire contractors to improve their home, the late-2000s Great Recession struck. Tamara chose to renovate their home herself while still caring for their three children. Ward Schraeder, her father, was a huge help throughout the process.
What began as a necessity grew into a thriving business. Tamara and her father appeared on the DIY Network when the opportunity arose. Meanwhile, Bill acted as a supportive spouse.
