Bob Kersee’s wife, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, helped him realize his true self. In the 1984 Heptathlon in Los Angeles, Joyner took home silver. She came in five points behind Glynis Nunn despite being the pre-race favorite. She came in fifth position in the long jump.
