People may recall Mould as the vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist for alternative rock bands Husker Du and Sugar in the 1980s and 1990s, respectively.

Husker Du first gained recognition as a punk rock band that released a series of albums on the independent label SST Records.

After the band disbanded in the late 1980s, Mould retreated to Pine City, Minnesota, where he abstained from narcotics and alcohol. During this period, he composed compositions and released his debut solo album.

Workbook, his album released in 1989, peaked at No. 127 on the Billboard 200 chart, and See a Little Light reached No. 4 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart.

Mould founded Sugar with drummer Malcolm Travis and bassist David Barber. Before disbanding in 1995, the band released two albums, a B-sides collection, and an EP.

He returned to solo recording in 1996, publishing a self-titled album in Rykodisc the same year. The wedding of Bob Mould was a private affair.

On May 6, 2023, Bob Mould married his long-term companion Don Fisher in a secret ceremony. The ceremony was witnessed by close family and friends.

There had been rumors that the couple was about to proclaim their engagement, but it appears they may have skipped right to their wedding in Palm Springs, California.

Matt Pinfeild, Jason Narducy, Jon Wurster, Fred Armisen, and Alicia J. Rose were present to commemorate the momentous occasion.

Tuesday, May 9: “Notes from an absolutely wonderful Palm Springs weekend celebrating the marriage of Bob & Don,” Director and photographer Alicia wrote on Instagram.

She went on to describe the love, laughter, delectable food, and wonderful people she met at the ceremony. She concluded by expressing gratitude to Eric Furlong for the enjoyable stay at The Lucky Palm.

In addition, the bassist Narducy tweeted photographs of the party and posed the question,

“Is there anything more punk rock than asking your band to give the wedding toast?”

“Yes: Asking them 90 seconds before the toast is scheduled,” he continued. He stated that it was an honor to salute the newlyweds on their special day.

The television host Pinfield, on the other hand, could not resist sharing a photo of himself with Kara, Wurster, and Armisen from the event along with his congratulations to the nuptials.

In addition, percussionist Wurster stated in a humorous Instagram post that he is solely responsible for Jason and himself losing the traditional post-wedding doubles tennis match due to his insistence.

Bob and Don Fisher Have Previously Collaborated

Bob and Don have been acquainted for more than a decade. They had previously worked together professionally.

Fisher was credited for the photography on Mould’s eleventh and highest-charting solo album to date, Beauty & Ruin, which peaked at No. 38 on the US Billboard 200.

The album features popular songs such as Low Season, I Don’t Know You Anymore, The War, Forgiveness, Fire in the City, Fix It, and Let the Beauty Be, all written by Mould.

Fisher and Mould both contributed to photography, with Narducy on bass and Wurster on percussion.

Upon its release, the album received positive reviews. The album received an average score of 76 on Metacritic, a website that aggregates reviews, indicating largely positive reviews.

He also thanked Fisher on the album Sunshine Rock, which was released by Merge Records on February 8, 2019. Earlier on October 25, 2018, he shared a song from the album, Sunshine Rock.

Sunshine Rock emanates from a personal space in Berlin, Germany, where the artist had resided for roughly three years prior to the album’s release.

After the release of Patch the Sky in 2016, the musician moved from San Francisco to Berlin for personal and artistic reasons to distance himself from his past.

There, he made the decision to pursue contentment, a resolution that drives the sound and attitude of his 2019 album. Sunshine Rock, his thirteenth solo album, debuted at No. 192 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Family of Bob Mould

Mould was born in Malone, New York, on October 16, 1960, to parents Willis F. Mould III and Sheila Murphy. He was raised in multiple locations, including Minneapolis-Saint Paul.

He is the fourth and smallest of his parents’ children. When he was born, his sister Susan was seven and his sibling Brian was five.

Stephen, the oldest sibling of the musician, died of nephroblastoma shortly after his birth. Bob was only nine years old, so his parents were under a heavy cloud of sorrow when he arrived.

His father was once regarded as the best TV repairman in town, but he ultimately took a job at the post office and quit because he found it challenging.

Following this, Sheila began working as an overnight switchboard for Bell Telephone. His mother was a devout Catholic who had spent a portion of her youth in a convent.

Mould became interested in music at the age of six. And despite the fact that his father was a saxophonist in the army during World War II, he does not recall him playing an instrument.

However, he was the one who introduced music into his existence. Willis understood that music was essential to his son, so he purchased old singles for a penny each. He also owned a record player.

When the artist was approximately seven years old, his father purchased a small grocery store. The family subsequently relocated into the small house with the attached store.

In October 2012, his father passed away after a protracted battle with lung cancer. It was a trying period for his family, and he was required to care for his mother, be with his siblings, and keep things moving forward. It marked the beginning of a 12-month writing process for him.

And on his 2014 album Beauty & Ruin, he reflected on his father’s profound influence on his life and lengthy musical career.
