How did Bob Stoops start his Professional Career?

In 1985, Bob Stoops started working as a graduate assistant for the University of Iowa. So, in 1987, he was chosen to be their assistant coach.

He transferred to Kent State after spending two seasons playing for the Sooners. Bob Stoopsonly worked for the team for one season. He was also appointed as Kansas State University’s new defensive coordinator in 1989. He was named the University of Florida’s new defensive coordinator in 1996.

Later, in 1999, he named Bob the new head coach of the University of Oklahoma. In 2000, he led his team to the Big 12 Conference championship and the National Championship.

He also led his squad to the Big 12 South Division. Thank goodness, he won more awards than six. As a result, many of Stoops’s assistants at Oklahoma went on to become head coaches during his tenure there. It was thus (Arizona) in other Division I-A programs, such as Brother Mike Stoops’. It also included Mark Mangino (Kansas), and Mike Leach (Texas Tech, Washington State, and others).

He is the only head coach in the BCS era to have captured the Rose, Orange, Fiesta, and Sugar Bowls. Bob Stoops announced his retirement from college coaching on June 7, 2017. He was replaced as Oklahoma’s head football coach by Lincoln Riley.
