Among them are Bob Violette, a 76-year-old retiree, and bar manager Joseph Walker. Officials said that over a dozen people were injured and at least eighteen people died.
Eight of the deceased have reportedly been identified by the police, although their identities have not yet been released. A few family members have since spoken about their loved ones with various media outlets.
On October 25, 2023, in the evening, two locations in Lewiston, Maine, saw a shooting spree. In addition to the eighteen deaths, thirteen more persons were injured.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office released the suspect’s picture to the public, sparking a massive search. The arrest warrant for the suspect was issued on October 26 and included eight charges of murder.

His daughter-in-law Cassandra knew who Violette was. She told the Lewiston Sun Journal that he died while protecting a group of children he was with at the Just-In-Time bowling facility.
She further said that he leaves behind three kids and six grandchildren. His wife Lucy was hurt during the attack. In terms of age, he was 76 years old when he passed away.
Violette had been a longtime resident of Lewiston, with strong ties to the community and a kind disposition toward everyone in his vicinity, according to Cassandra.
He was always there for me, the lady said, insisting that you give him a hug and a kiss on the cheek before you left. Violette, a retired Sears technician, took up bowling after retirement.
His daughter-in-law claims that he founded a little bowling league many years ago and even convinced his oldest grandchildren to join.
Cassandra claims that he used his savings to buy new iPads and iPhones so they could shoot better bowling videos. “He loved those kids, all of them,” she said. Bob Violett’s family will shortly release his obituary.

The shootings began at Lewiston’s Just-In-Time Recreation, a bowling alley. The first emergency calls came in at 6:56 p.m. EDT. There were seven fatalities at this location.
Shortly after, at 7:08 p.m., there was another gunfire reported at Schemengees Bar & Grille Restaurant, which is 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Just-In-Time.
Eight individuals died here, and three more died at a hospital sometime after that. A Walmart distribution facility adjacent was the scene of gunfire, although the company insists there was no shooting there.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine State Police alerted the residents of an active shooter at around 8:00 p.m. The sheriff’s office released images of the shooter using an assault-style weapon.
Working with other hospitals, the Central Maine Medical Center provided accommodations for victims. The most prestigious hospital in the state, Maine Medical Center in Portland, received many of them.
