Reed’s obituary is a poignant homage to a life that touched so many people in this close-knit neighborhood. Many people were moved by his life. Furthermore, his mother and sister, Ella Reed, outlast him and have no idea about their father.

When something unexpected happened, the skater was succeeding and enjoying his life, with plans to continue performing for a long time.

In November 2022, Brandon observed a swelling on his left forearm that had grown to the size of an egg. Later, Devon Reed, his mother, reported that a trip to a local walk-in clinic ended in a biopsy at a Miami hospital, which revealed the cancer diagnosis.

Brandon began therapy just after Thanksgiving and remains positive about his prospects. Similarly, he declared a goal to recover within two and a half years of receiving therapy and returning to the board.

Brandon Loved Fishing

Aside from skateboarding, Brandon had a passion for fishing. Brandon and a few friends spend their leisure time exploring neighboring waterways and fishing for snook and tarpon on his 15-foot boat. After being diagnosed with cancer, he put his plans to skateboard and fish on wait for a few months.

However, he finally resumed his normal activities. Similarly, someone directed Brandon to Make-A-Wish, a national organization that grants wishes to children suffering from a variety of dreadful ailments. Every week, the organization grants over 300 wishes, with 87% of recipients describing it as a watershed moment in their recovery.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation contacted the Reed family to assist them in fulfilling Brandon’s wish. Initially, his mother politely declined the offer, requesting that the charity aid another child because Brandon already had everything he needed. The Wish team called Brandon again in May, asking if he wanted to go halibut fishing in Alaska.

As an alternative, they offered if he wanted to go tuna fishing off San Diego. However, a salesman at Fort Pierce Bait stated that his top three choices were unmistakable: “White’s Tackle, White’s Tackle, White’s Tackle.” Brandon, his sister, mother, and a dozen friends donated $4,000 to Make-A-Wish on June 16, 2023. Brandon, who was carried by Cisco Limo of West Palm Beach, spent hours selecting fishing reels, a cast net, lures, and bait buckets to demonstrate his deep love of fishing.
