Brian ‘Brizz’ Gillis, one of the founding members of the 1990s pop group LFO, passed away at the age of 47. Girl on TV and Summer Girls is the most well-known songs by the Massachusetts band, but both were released after Gillis’ departure in 1998.
Brad Fischetti, the sole surviving original member of the band, paid tribute to Gillis and stated that he was “struggling” with the passing.
Fischetti wrote the following on Instagram: “Today, I honor my old bandmate and friend.
The LFO you’ve come to know and (hopefully) love would not exist if it weren’t for his early efforts and persistence.
He continued, “Yesterday, a major character from the first two chapters of the LFO tale passed away.” Gillis’s cause of death is yet unknown.
The LFO tale is “tragic”
Brian Gillis achieved modest success with the band in the United States and Europe before leaving in 1998 to pursue a solo career.
This prevented him from participating in one of the band’s greatest moments: opening for Britney Spears on her 1999 US tour.
LFO was formed in 1995, and both Girls on TV and Summer Girls entered the top 20 in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Gillis is the third victim of LFO, an acronym for Lyte Funkie Ones.
Rich Cronin died of leukemia at the age of 36 in 2010, and his replacement, Devin Lima, died of adrenal cancer at the age of 41 in 2018.
Fischetti mentioned the passing of his comrades in an Instagram tribute, adding,
“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.” It is a tragedy, the LFO Story”
“If you know what I’ve been up to, you know that I’ve been attempting to bring light into the darkness. Attempting to find atonement in sorrow and agony. Attempting to uphold the legacy.”
