The late collegiate football player Bryce Stanfield was not married and did not have a wife. Two days after losing consciousness at the school stadium, the 21-year-old defensive lineman passed away on Friday.
Stanfield leaves behind his maternal grandfather, Earl Smith, as well as his parents, Teri and Fred Stanfield. A photo of the four of them following their Harrison High School graduation in 2021 had already been released by him.
Furman President Elizabeth Davis wrote to the school community to inform them that Bryce had been taken to the hospital after fainting during an exercise on Wednesday morning. Fred, a proud father, captioned numerous photos from the graduation ceremony with the phrase “Diploma Time!” In September of last year, Teri published a video clip showing Bryce wearing Phillies gear when he was nine years old and a Paladins jersey when he was twenty-three.
The following day, Teri put together a montage showing Bryce’s life from birth to his last birthday. Teri shared these photos from her vacation to Disney World, so it’s possible that the Stanfield family just went. On Wednesday, the day Bryce fell, Teri’s friend April signed into her account to let her know that Teri and Fred were at the hospital with him.
Two days after Bryce passed away, Teri shared his obituary on her Facebook page on Sunday. Declared Furman Head Coach Clay Hendrix on the school’s behalf. The message continued, saying, “We ask that everyone, first and foremost, lift his parents, Fred and Teri Stanfield, and their family, in prayer on this day and in the days ahead. We are heartbroken beyond measure with Bryce’s sudden passing.”
