Bill’s third son, Caleb, was born on January 11, 1993, to his second wife, Jennifer Butler.
Lucille Mary (Collins) and Edward Joseph Murray II, his paternal grandparents, were both Irish Catholics. Brian Doyle-Murray, Bill’s brother, played alongside Bill in Caddyshack and Ghostbusters, starring Dan Aykroyd and Rick Moranis.

In June 2020, the eldest son of the Ghostbusters star and his second wife was arrested during a Black Lives Matter protest in Massachusetts. He was living in Chilmark, Massachusetts, at the time, and was calmly attending a demonstration in Vineyard Haven.
During the civil disturbances on Martha’s Vineyard, Caleb was arrested for “spitting on and biting a police officer and threatening arson.” Officials also stated that he hurled a rock through a car window at a guy, Eric Woods, 66. Wood had previously used a racial insult before attacking a black youth.
The demonstrators couldn’t stop themselves from causing an uproar after his insulting statements. During this time, Caleb is thought to have become the ultimate focus of the protest.
Caleb allegedly’spit on and bit a police officer, fought sheriff’s officers, and threatened arson’ after his detention. The court later dropped the property destruction case against the automobile.
Murray, on the other hand, was still facing three counts of assault and violence on a police officer. He had gotten into a fight with police officers who were reacting to another incident at the Martha’s Vineyard protest.
According to police reports at the time, Murray became combative following his arrest, biting and spitting on a police officer in transit and then cutting himself and deputies with a piece of his cell. Caleb allegedly threatened to burn down buildings after he was released from jail.

Jennifer’s eldest son was first charged with six charges by law police. They were three counts of assault and battery on a police officer, making terroristic threats, and disruptive behavior.
The allegations of making terrorist threats and malicious destruction of property were ultimately withdrawn, but not before his arraignment. The charge of property destruction was dismissed by Edgartown District Court Clerk-Magistrate Liza Williamson because there was probable cause that Caleb was not the one who broke Wood’s window.
The Truck, according to Williamson, was within the demonstrators’ circle, with its glass already cracked. Murray was already on his knees, so causing vandalism or [malicious] destruction was out of the question.
Caleb was eventually sentenced to one year of pretrial probation by Edgartown District Court. This was after his bail was set at $10,000 before his arraignment.
