Spanish politician Carles Puigdemont Casamajó gained notoriety as the country’s president from 2016 to 2017. On December 29, 1962, Puigdemont was born in Amer, north-eastern Catalonia, Spain. At the age of sixteen, he was already contributing news articles on football and other topics as a reporter for the Diari de Girona newspaper.
After Catalonia unilaterally declared its independence, he was removed from office as president by the Spanish government. In addition, Carles joined the European Parliament in 2019. In addition to being the leader of the Together for Catalonia party, he is also a co-founder of the National Call for the Republic (CNxR) and the electoral coalition JuntsxCat.

Xavier Puigdemont and Nria Casamajó had eight children in total when Carles Puigdemont was born. She endured the horrors of the communist system for over eleven years while living under Nicolae Ceausescu’s dictatorship. The first took place in Roses, where Carles Pàramo, the mayor at the time, officially recognized a private, secular ceremony. The second took place in the Maramures monastery in her village and involved an orthodox ritual. He served on the Executive Committee of the Association of Municipalities for Independence. when the parties came to a last-minute decision to fire Artur Mas, partly because of his administration’s budget cuts and multiple accusations of corruption. In a similar vein, Puigdemont was chosen as Catalonia’s 130th president on January 10, 2016.
Furthermore, in October 2017, Puigdemont and other members of the Catalan government faced charges of insurrection, sedition, and corruption of public money at the Audiencia Nacional by Spanish Attorney General José Manuel Maza. Just moments after disembarking from his flight from Brussels, Puigdemont was taken into custody by Italian law enforcement at Alghero Airport. At a court hearing the day after his imprisonment, the Italian prosecutor had demanded that he be released without taking any precautions.
