Carol Burnett Has Stated That She Plays Wordle Daily With This Celebrity

Carol Burnett

Carol Burnett revealed which famous friend she relishes competing against daily in Wordle. The television and film icon, who turns 90 on April 26, celebrates her landmark birthday with some of her longstanding celebrity friends during her new NBC special “Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love.”

In the special, which will air on her birthday at 8 p.m. ET/PT, a number of Burnett’s former co-stars and fellow film and television pioneers will pay tribute to the comedic legend and her groundbreaking series “The Carol Burnett Show.”

The comedian praised her co-stars on “Entertainment Tonight” in response to their praise for her special. She praised Allison Janney, Kristen Wiig, and Laura Dern in particular. Soon, Burnett will co-star with the actors in the Apple TV+ series “Palm Royale.”

Burnett gushed,

“We all bonded extremely well, and we had a wonderful ladies’ club. It was fantastic.”

She then revealed that she has a unique relationship with one of her co-stars.

“Allison and I, we Wordle,” she added.

Burnett verified that she is an avid fan of the popular New York Times word game and joked that she and Janney take their head-to-head competitions very seriously.

“We just Wordle back and forth,” she explained. She is the first person at my coffee every morning.

She added that the game is “fun.” Janney is not the only celebrity she competes with. It turns out that Burnett is a member of a Wordle community filled with celebrities.

In an April 13 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the “Annie” heroine mentioned the other actors with whom she competes.

Burnett stated that she begins each day by completing a crossword puzzle with her spouse, Brian Miller, whom she has been married to since 2001, before switching to Wordle.

“I Wordle with Allison Janney, Charlize Theron, and David Crane, who wrote ‘Friends,'” she disclosed. “They’re my friends, and we all use Wordle.”

Burnett, Janney, Theron, and Crane join a long list of celebrities who frequently play the brainteaser.

In a March interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ben Affleck revealed he is an avid Wordle player. However, he also plays various prediction games on his smartphone, including one called Octordle.

“It’s just Wordle with more words,” he clarified. “Do not be impressed, it is not difficult.”

He added,

“I was invited to join a fun little celebrity Wordle group with a red velvet rope. Matt Damon is among them. Jason Bateman and Bradley Cooper, as well as…”

Affleck halted himself and referred to “Fight Club” rather than revealing additional identities.

Actually, the first Wordle rule is to not discuss Wordle. “Except if you get it within three guesses,” he joked.

The “Good Will Hunting” actor stated that his group plays Wordle, Quordle, and Octordle throughout the day and totals the scores at the end of the day.

He concluded,

“The competition is intense, and there is much ridicule and derision. Therefore, I’m training.”

Immediate scheduling of a contest between Burnett’s and Affleck’s Wordle teams is required.
