She returned to pageants after a six-year hiatus, competing for Miss Arkansas in 2007 and 2008, finishing runner-up both times. She went on to win Miss Arkansas USA in 2009 and placed in the top ten of the Miss USA pageant.

Painter has also worked with Integrity Models and has appeared in major publications such as Seventeen and Cosmo Girl Prom. She has modeled for a number of platforms, vacation destinations, and clothing sponsors.
