On December 29, 1953, Charlayne Woodard was born in Albany, New York, in the United States. She is an actress who has worked in films like The Crucible, Glass, and Unbreakable (1996).
Although Charlayne attended the Goodman School of Drama, it is unknown what she studied in high school. She has been a longtime member of the Actors Studio and serves on the boards of The Dramatist Guild, The Council of Actors Equity Association, and The Jolla Playhouse.
She also holds the distinction of being a Fellow of the Ojai Playwrights Conference, The Marble House Project, and The La Jolla Playhouse, and she is currently a guest artist at USC and CAL ARTS thanks to her training as an actor and playwright.

Her other television credits include Chicago Hope, The Division, ER, The Blacklist, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. In 2018, she was selected to be a series regular in the FX drama series Pose. She has been cast in the early 2023 television movie Secret Invasion from Marvel Studios. She will marry Nick Fury.

Woodward wed intellectual property attorney Alan Michael Harris in 1991, and it appears that they have been a happy couple ever since. The couple doesn’t have any children of their own, but Charlayne has 21 nieces and nephews and 13 godchildren who all call her “Auntie Charlayne.”
