Charlie Benante was born on November 27, 1962, in The Bronx, New York, United States. Benante is a drummer for the Thrash Metal band Anthrax since 1982. 

He is also an artist, lyricist, and craftsman. Charlie Benante is a multi-talented craftsman who spends time on drums, guitar, percussion, and the console.

Charlie Benante, a drummer, was born on November 27, 1962, in The Bronx, New York. Benante’s uncle is Anthrax bassist Frank Bello. Anthony, Frank’s younger brother, was murdered on March 25, 1996, in the Bronx, New York. Much to Benante’s chagrin, the murder was never solved.

According to most old Anthrax interviews, Darth Vader is Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante’s favorite fictional character.

He is a huge fan of the film Jaws and owns a lot of memorabilia from it. Due to personal issues, Charlie Benante was forced to miss several Anthrax shows in 2012. His mother died early in the year, forcing Frank Bello (Charles’ mother is Frank’s grandmother) to miss the band’s tour in Argentina.

How did Charlie Benante start his Professional Career?

In 1963, Charlie Benante joined Anthrax and recorded the band’s debut album, Fistful of Metal. Since then, he has served as the band’s drummer. He is a technical drummer best known for his quick double pedaling and popularizing the blast beat drumming technique in the Early Thrash Genre.

He composed the lead guitars for Strom Troopers of Death’s album Speak English or Die. Charlie has also worked with Anthrax, producing music and drum tracks as well as recording guitar solos for their 1995 album Stomp 442.

Benante is also a graphic designer who has worked on several Anthrax album covers and T-shirt designs. The drummer, Charlie Benante, has a deep and passionate love for the flavor of the coffee.
