Chendall Weaver Parents: Meet His Mother Shonda Perkins

Chendall Weaver’s parents were past athletes. He told Baseline to Sideline Report that his athleticism stems from his parents. Shonda Perkins, the basketball player’s mother, is an active social media user. Chendall’s father’s name does not appear on the Texas student page, leading many to think that his parents had split up.

Shonda Perkins was born in Texas and currently resides in Mansfield, Texas. Perkins has shared numerous Instagram posts about attending Chendall’s games and wearing Longhorns gear. Shonda is currently a third-grade teacher at Imogene Gideon Elementary School.

During the League Championship Series between the Rangers and the Astros, Shonda donned a Rangers t-shirt to school alongside the other instructors. Last year, Shonda shared a stunning photo of herself collecting a signature from her child. Shonda has been a Chendall fan since the beginning, and she even has a Chendall Weaver t-shirt that her child signed.

Shonda’s page highlights not only her son’s accomplishments but also those of her classmates. She celebrated Black History Month last year by posting photos of her children making bottle buddies. Shonda just tweeted a praising post for her son’s performance against Baylor.

The Longhorns defeated the Bears 75-73, with Weaver scoring only two points, but as Shonda pointed out, he made a huge impact with two free throws and excellent defense.

Chendall Weaver Siblings: Connection to a WNBA Player

The Texas athlete has three older siblings: two brothers and an older sister. His two brothers, Cameron Cosey and Chandler Carter, have kept a low profile. They make occasional appearances on Shonda’s Instagram feed. Chendall’s elder brother, Cameron Cosey, turned 29 on January 1, and their mother shared a series of images.

Chandler Carter, his second oldest brother, celebrated his 27th birthday on December 24. Shonda published a lovely piece about her son, whom she refers to as the family’s middle child. Chendall has a tight friendship with former WNBA player Chennedy Carter, which few people are aware of. Carter and Weaver are half-siblings.

Chennedy Carter played three years of college basketball at Texas A&M. She played 88 games for Texas A&M, averaging 22.5 points, 4.06 assists, and 4.18 rebounds. Chennedy, a shooting guard, declared for the WNBA draft in 2020, foregoing her senior year. In the first round, the Atlanta Dream selected Chennedy as the fourth overall pick.

This made her the most heavily recruited player in Texas A&M history. Chenney had a terrific rookie season until her ankle injury. She reached at least 25 points four times and was named to the 2020 WNBA All-Rookie team. Chennedy secured a contract with the Turkish basketball team Elzaig immediately following her first season in the WNBA.

In 2022, Chennedy joined the Los Angeles Sparks and played in 24 games. Chennedy averaged 8.9 points and 1.9 assists. Chennedy appears to be taking a break from basketball and is not on the Sparks roster. She also hasn’t updated her Instagram account since July 2023.
