Good Times at Chip Fields

Lynnette Gordon, Penny’s abusive biological mother, is played by Field. Her debut appearance comes in the first four episodes of the fifth season. Lynette’s father abandoned her when she became pregnant at the age of sixteen. As a result, she vents her rage on Penny by scorching her with a hot iron. She tells the Evans family that she, too, was abused as a child after the abuse is ultimately made public. She gets into a confrontation with Willona and Thelma, and they beg her to go to counseling. Penny informs her birth mother that no matter what anyone thinks, she would always consider Willona her mother after attempting to obtain the tape from Penny and threatening to abuse her again, which is stopped by Willona. She agrees to dismiss the allegations against Willona and abandons Penny, never to be seen again.
