Actress Susan Sarandon, then known as Susan Tomalin, wed Chris in September 1967. They got divorced in 1979 after 12 years of marriage. Susan’s stage name was her husband’s last name.
When she appeared on the Divorced, Not Dead podcast in March 2021, she spoke about her former relationships with the men she had dated, including Chris. When Susan was 17 years old, she met Chris at the Catholic University of America.
“We eventually began dating.” And now, my first sexual experience. I was ecstatic. Due to the fact that we were going to be expelled from school, I recently got married. As a result, we decided to make that decision every year,” the Oscar winner told host Caroline Stanbury.
Susan said,
“Few people can stay married for a lifetime to the first person they slept with,” and that after seven years of marriage, they made the decision to “move on together.”
She continued by claiming that she had never been interested in marriage or desired to get married.
According to the Thelma & Louise actress, it was because of the frequent worry of losing one’s identity in relationships.

After divorcing Susan, Chris wed fashion model Lisa Ann Cooper as his second wife in 1980. Stephanie Sarandon, Michael Sarandon, and Alexis Sarandon were born into their happy nine-year marriage. Unfortunately, Chris and his wife split up in 1989 since their marriage was doomed to fail.
