Dyip of Columbia picked the hooper first overall in the 2018 PBA draught. The basketball player was honored as the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup’s Most Valuable Player. Perez was a part of the NCAA Season 93 tournament squad Zark’s Burger-Lyceum, which featured a number of Pirates standouts and won 18 straight games.
With Gilas 5.0 in the FIBA Asia Challenge in 2016, CJ made his professional basketball debut. He also participated in the 2016 FIBA 33 All-Stars in Doha, Qatar, as a member of Team Manila. In his final college season, Perez guided the Pirates to an 18-game sweep of the playoffs while averaging a league-best 19.3 points per game, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists.
