All judges were Covid-19-vaccinated and boosted. The New York Times said two justices acquired the illness. Justices are virus-tested routinely by court procedure.
Clarence Thomas’ Luxurious World Tours
Justice Clarence Thomas has been in the news for taking extravagant gifts from a millionaire buddy. The judge added his colleagues and other judicial members had persuaded him that his costly excursions, paid for by affluent friends, were personal hospitality and didn’t have to be declared.
ProPublica revealed that Justice Clarence Thomas took international vacations for nearly two decades. He uses private aircraft and superyachts. His travels were funded by Dallas businessman Harlan Crow.
Thomas posted on the court’s public information office more than 24 hours following the report. Harlan and Kathy Crow are his closest buddies. “We have joined them on several family trips during the more than quarter century friendship,” the judge said.
Thomas said he was told he did not need to record “this sort of personal hospitality” and would follow the new Judicial Conference regulations. Democrats requested Justice Thomas’ resignation after the report. Republicans either supported Thomas’s trip with pals or stayed mute.
