Santos, a mother of five, previously gave birth to a nine-pound infant. Amazonas, the Brazilian state where Santos resides, gave birth to the enormous infant Angerson.

Birthing a child of that magnitude poses significant health hazards to both mother and child. However, the birth was successful in the end. After the birth, Santos and her infant are both robust and stable.

Cleidiane Santos dos Santos, age 27, gave birth to her son Angerson on January 18 at the Hospital Padre Colombo in Parintins, Amazonas State, according to the Brazilian publication O Globo. The 2-foot-long infant was delivered via C-section.

Dr. Artemisia Pessoa, an OBGYN at Hospital Padre Colombo, reports that Anderson is being monitored in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Santos did not anticipate delivering immediately. She stated that she had gone to the hospital for her regular obstetric exam.

According to the Daily Mail, medical authorities immediately determined that the fetus would be too large for the mother to carry to term, so a C-section was performed the following day and Angerson was born.

Pessoa told O Globo that the baby’s girth made it an “unusual” and “risky” circumstance. “We are just feeling joy, happiness, and gratitude for everything working out in this case,” she said.

Most full-term neonates (39 to 40 weeks gestation) weigh between 6 and 9 pounds, according to the American Pregnancy Association.

While speaking with O Globo, Dos Santos commended her medical staff for the care she and Angerson are receiving.

Dr. Artemisia Pessoa, an obstetrician-gynecologist at Hospital Padre Colombo, where Angerson was born, stated, Neonates of Angerson’s size frequently experience respiratory issues and high blood sugar levels, making their lives more challenging than those of normal-weight infants.

The newborn measured 2 feet in length and was delivered via cesarean section. The mother’s diabetes may have affected the weight of the infant.

They are relieved that both the neonate and his mother are healthy. Santos compared her anguish to being concurrently struck by two tractor-trailers.

Macrosomia, a potentially fatal condition that forces mothers to deliver gigantic children, is the cause of enormous infants.

Several variables may contribute to Macrosomia. Macrosomia is more prevalent among mothers older than 35 with elevated blood sugar levels. A large infant increases a mother’s risk of Macrosomia in subsequent deliveries.

Being overweight prior to conception and acquiring a great deal of weight during pregnancy increases the likelihood of Macrosomia. Intriguingly, Latinas are more likely to develop Macrosomia during pregnancy. The fact that we are giving birth to a boy increases the odds.

The heaviest infant to survive infancy was born in 1955 and weighed 22 pounds and 8 ounces, according to Today.

Joy Buckley gave birth to a newborn daughter weighing 15 pounds and 5 ounces in 2019. “I felt like two tractor-trailers had struck me simultaneously,” she told The Washington Post.
