According to reports, well-known basketball player Kawhi Leonard is suffering from a right knee injury. It took less than 24 hours for the Clippers’ playoff elimination to worsen.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, star forward Kawhi Leonard purportedly suffered a meniscal tear in his right knee.
Leonard’s injury was detected prior to Game 3 of the Clippers’ postseason series against the Phoenix Suns, causing him to miss the series’ final three games. The Clippers were defeated in a five-game series.
In the first two games of the series, Leonard posted impressive statistics, scoring 38 points in Game 1 and 31 points in Game 2.
Uncertain is the length of Leonard’s (age 31) absence due to injury.
Leonard’s right knee has caused him trouble throughout his career. Leonard’s right knee has given him trouble on multiple occasions. Leonard tore his ACL in the same knee in 2021. While recuperating from his injury, he missed the entire 2021-22 NBA season.
Leonard was previously diagnosed with right quadriceps tendinopathy while playing for the San Antonio Spurs. Leonard was limited to nine games due to his injury during the 2017-18 NBA season.
Kawhi remains an outstanding player when healthy despite his injuries. Leonard averaged 26.2 points per game and made the All-Star team in each of the three seasons following his tendinopathy diagnosis.
This season, in 52 games following his return from an ACL injury, he averaged 23.8 points and 6.5 rebounds.
