The hit-and-run accident that claimed Paudie Palmer’s life has devastated his family.
The beloved GAA leader, who was seriously damaged in a hit-and-run accident outside Inishannon in Cork on December 29 and was taken to the hospital, unfortunately, died away there.
A sports broadcaster from Cork named Paudie Palmer had a long experience with the GAA, a natural grasp of it, and the respect of everyone engaged in Gaelic sports and the larger sports community. Despite spending 40 years as a teacher at St. Brogan’s Community School in Bandon, Mr. Palmer, a native of Templenoe in County Kerry, was best recognized for his work as a sports pundit.
A well-liked frequent sports columnist for The Echo newspaper, Mr. Palmer was a well-known commentator on C103 for his lively and colorful coverage of both club and intercounty events in Cork.
Accidental Death of Paudie Palmer
More over a week ago, a well-known Cork sportscaster named Paudie Palmer was died after sustaining injuries in a hit-and-run accident. Palmer tributes were overseen by Tánaiste Micheál Martin.
According to Mr. Martin, Cork would be filled with sorrow upon hearing the news that Mr. Palmer, a presenter with C103 County Sound, had gone suddenly overnight at Cork University Hospital.
His wife Colette and his kids Claire and Emily must have been saddened to learn that Paudie had gone away to Cork University Hospital.
Claudine Keane, the spouse of Robbie Keane, was related to Mr. Palmer via blood. After her uncle was critically harmed in a hit-and-run accident on December 29, she tweeted that she wanted prayers for him.
He had insightful observations about the game and a distinctive voice, notably on the radio and in his column for The Echo. His friends and family will miss him dearly for these reasons.
How Did the Mishap Happen?
On the Innishannon-Crossbarry road in County Cork, near Dunkereen Cross, close to Upton, a two-vehicle collision happened at about 10 am.
In connection with the incident, 33-year-old Ukrainian native Bohdan Berverkhyi has subsequently been charged with four driving crimes. On four driving-related counts, including neglecting to help Mr. Palmer as required after the crash, he has appeared in court and been remanded in jail.
