His mother, Ann Breslow, was also a math teacher in Bridgeport. He has a sister named Lesley among his siblings. When the Sox’s Chief Baseball Officer was 12, his sister was diagnosed with pediatric thyroid cancer. This sad incident had a profound and lasting impact on him, strengthening his determination to follow a medical career.

Breslow later established a non-profit organization to assist children with cancer. His wife, Kelly Shaffer, whom he has been married to since 2013, is also in charge of the charity. They are the parents of three children. Breslow and his wife welcomed their first child, twin twins Carter and Mason, in June 2015. They had their daughter Livia in December 2018.
