Iconic Scottish football manager Craig Brown lost his fight with sickness and unfortunately died at the age of 82.

The former Scotland manager’s death at a hospital was reported on Monday.

After the devastating announcement, condolences flooded in. Before managing Scotland’s under-21 team, Brown began his head coaching career with Clyde.

After Andy Roxburgh resigned, he subsequently took over as the manager of the senior squad. He created history by leading them to Euro ’96 and secured a berth at the World Cup in France two years later.

It was Scotland’s final tournament appearance, but his squad still need assistance to get out of a group that included Brazil, Norway, and Morocco.

Brown returned to club management in 1999 after his term as president of the nation came to a close, managing for Motherwell and Preston North close.

The family now asks that their privacy be respected while they are mourning at this difficult time.

Brown was given the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his achievements to fintball in the 1999 Birthday Honours.
