Cranston Johnson is the youngest of three children and a Western Carolina University graduate. He was born in the North Carolina town of Gastonia. He attended Ashbrook Senior High School in his hometown of Ashbrook.

Cranston Johnson attended Western Carolina University after receiving a football scholarship. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management degree after being an All-Southern Conference football player in college.

How did Cranston Johnson start his Professional Career?

Because of his football background, Johnson was offered a role as a football player in the 2010 sports film The 5th Quarter. He was inspired to pursue acting as a career even though he would not be given credit for the role.

At the Actor’s Group Studio in Winston Salem, North Carolina, he studied method acting with Burgess Jenkins.

In 2012, he appeared in several short films, including Speak Up on Domestic Violence, Leaving the Game, Rap Game Stressful, and Take a Shot. Beginning with the drama film From Faith to Freedom in 2012, he returned to full-length feature films.

Following his role as Billy ‘Smiley’ Cain, Jr. in the 2013 independent film Find a Way, Johnson received praise for his portrayal of Shawn Griffin in the drama film Susie’s Hope.

He appeared as Officer Brick in the episode “Angels and Ministers of Grace” of the NBC adaptation of the DC Comics character Constantine.

He also appeared as a guest star as Baxter on Cranston Johnson’s mystery anthology series Secrets & Lies. Deshawn in the FX comedy-drama series Atlanta, created and starring Donald Glover, was his first major television role.

Following that, he starred as Detective Marvin Hanson in the American drama series Hap, as well as Leonard and James Meloy in the Cranston Johnson legal drama series The Fix.

He made a cameo appearance in the episode “The Next Episode” of the HBO teen drama Euphoria, which starred Zendaya. Cranston Johnson has appeared as Frank Fletcher in the Netflix supernatural action drama Wu Assassins and as Montavius in the Starz drama P-Valley.

He most recently appeared as Luke Taylor in Kim Cattrall’s FOX comedy-drama series Filthy Rich. My Name Is Paul, The Single Moms Club, Dark Awakening, and Sacred Hearts are among her other notable film appearances. Johnson will be seen in the upcoming films Women is Loser and Son.
