How did Dan Harmon start his Professional Career?
Early in his career, Harmon performed with the Milwaukee improv comic troupe ComedySportz. In 1996, he issued the album “Take Down the Grand Master”. He and Rob Schrab co-wrote the pilot “Heat Vision and Jack” in 1999, which was helmed by Ben Stiller and starred Jack Black and Owen Wilson. Fox ordered the show but did not continue it.
Along with Black, Harmon co-created and starred in the web series “Computerman” in 2003. He and Schrab co-created “Acceptable. TV” and “The Sarah Silverman Program” in 2007. The latter was broadcast on Comedy Central for 32 episodes and received nominations for numerous awards.
The next year, Harmon produced the six-season television series “Community,” which starred Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, and Chevy Chase. Due to creative differences, he was sacked from “Community,” but was eventually rehired.
Dan is a co-founder of Starburns Industries, a successful production business known for producing hit television programs including “Community” and “Rick and Morty.”
