Many have been curious about Danelo Cavalcante’s weight loss. Speaking of which, it’s possible that his time in jail caused him to lose some weight, though it’s unclear how much.

Cavalcante may be seen beginning to flee in surveillance footage that police released during a news conference on Wednesday.

Cavalcante is portrayed standing and taking in his surroundings in a jail yard tunnel before stepping backward and laying his hands on the wall to begin traveling perpendicularly.

After seven seconds, he is out of the camera’s frame of view.

According to acting warden Howard Holland, the Chester County Prison was fully staffed at the time of Cavalcante’s breakout, yet it took guards more than an hour to notify the nearby emergency services of the breakout.

According to the security camera footage, Cavalcante climbed the wall at around 9:45 a.m., and it wasn’t until then that the guards became aware that he was absent.

A tower guard who had been on duty at the time was put on leave as part of the investigation.

Update on Danelo Cavalcante’s Health and Illness for 2024

Although Danelo Cavalcante is not sick, a police K-9 that is recuperating from heat exhaustion is searching for him.

K-9 Loki of the Pennsylvania State Police is recuperating from a heat-related illness that he got while helping to find escaped prisoner Danelo Cavalcante.

According to the police, he had been injured earlier in the week. On Thursday, the veterinary hospital released him.

The extreme humidity and extreme temperatures in the area have made the search very challenging.

Lt. Col. George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police told the reporters on Thursday that Bivens was doing well. It is expected that he will fully recuperate and resume his job within the upcoming week.

State police posted on X, the former Twitter platform, thanking the veterinary team for taking care of Loki.

Cavalcante has been evading capture since his August 31 escape from Chester County Prison. Since then, hundreds of police personnel, K-9s, aviation units, and various types of technology have all been involved in the hunt.

Authorities Are Currently Looking Where?

Residents are still being asked to keep their homes safe and to keep an eye out for misplaced cars, bicycles, or other forms of transportation. Authorities have even been sending out reverse 9-1-1 alarm calls as recently as Wednesday.

A recording of Cavalcante’s mother appealing for his peaceful surrender is being played from helicopters hovering over the search area.

The NPR member station WHYY reports that the heat and thick foliage have made the search more challenging.

The intense heat has rendered thermal cameras unusable, and as a result, a tactical search dog has been admitted to the hospital.

Police are focusing their operations in a roughly seven square-mile region surrounding Pocopson, which is about 25 miles west of Philadelphia.

To aid in the search, the FBI, Pennsylvania State Police, and US Customs and Border Protection have sent out reinforcements.
